Medication Policies: Controlled Substances & Clinical Questions
Our Medication Policies
If you are working with a Seven Starling Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), we want to ensure your treatment is safe and effective. To maintain the highest standard of care, please follow these guidelines for questions and prescriptions.
How to Ask Clinical Questions
All clinical questions must be discussed during a scheduled medical appointment. Our providers do not manage clinical inquiries via email or chat. This ensures your provider can safely monitor your progress and health.
Please schedule a follow-up appointment to discuss:
- Changes to Meds: Starting or changing medications.
- Symptom Management: Managing new or existing symptoms.
- Dosage Adjustments: Increasing or decreasing your current dose.
- Refill Requests: Discussing your ongoing treatment plan.
Note: We do not authorize refills without a scheduled visit.
Does Seven Starling prescribe controlled substances?
Due to regulatory and patient safety concerns, Seven Starling providers do not prescribe controlled substances.
This includes:
- Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) (e.g., Estradiol, Premarin, or Prometrium)
- Stimulants (e.g., ADHD medications like Adderall or Ritalin).
- Sedatives or Benzodiazepines (e.g., Xanax, Ativan, Valium).
- Opiates
We recommend seeking in-person care and follow-up with a local provider for these specific medications.
